Client Entryway Upgrade

My client wanted to upgrade her space at the front door and make it feel more like an entryway. Originally, we tried to add a few cabinets for storage but there wasn’t enough space for it, unfortunately. We decided to do board and batten and add hooks for backpacks, purses, jackets, etc. She has two little ones so any organization is helpful.

Here is how it started:

Their walls are textured so I had to add backer board to the bottom half of the wall.

The backer board is 1/8″ thick so once I added it to the wall, the outlets were sunken in. I added these outlet extender clips (linked at the end) that worked perfectly.

Once the outlets were flush with the wall, I primed the backer board and added horizontal and vertical pieces of MDF.

This how it looked before wood filler and a lot of caulking.

It took about three coats of paint but it was worth it. We added the hooks and this is how it looks now. What do you think? I love the new lights!
